People of Sri Lanka are fond of playing sports like golf, cycling, scuba
diving, snorekelling, surfing, hiking, trekking and rugby. Here is brief
account of these sports in Sri Lanka.
Golf
Sri Lanka has three fine 18 hole golf courses located at Nuwara Eliya,
Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. While Colombo and Nuwara Eliya clubs are more than
100 years old, the one at Kandy has been established recently in 1999.

National Cycle Route
Feel real Sri Lanka on National Cycle Route. Enjoy diverse landscapes
rich in nature and multi cultural conventions. See the village lifestyle of
Sri Lanka in close quarters. On way you can see sandy beaches, muddy
tracks,, rubber estates, marshlands teeming with water birds and other
wildlife, fine gardens, elegant monuments and aromatic tea estates. The
cycle route has been designed by Sri Lanka Tourist Board.
Scuba Diving & Snorekelling
Under the clear blue waters of coastal Sri Lanka lies fantastic sub-aquatic
world. For fully appreciating this beauty you will have to indulge in games
like scuba diving and snorkelling. Beauty of the corals is marvellous.

Surfing
Surfing season in Sri Lanka is from May to October. The eastern coast of
the country is known for its long waves. Availability of surfing locations
in Sri Lanka depends on monsoon season. Arugambay on eastern coast is one of
the best surfing destinations in the world. Hikkaduwa, another popular
surfing location, is located south of Colombo.
Hiking & Trekking

If
you are fond of hiking on the rolling mountains, Sri Lanka would not leave
you disappointed. Beginners, mid-level and experts, all types of hikers and
trekkers can enjoy in Sri Lanka. You can move through several undulating
valleys, discovering frothy waterfalls and rural regions which have retained
their rustic way of life for centuries.
Rugby
The country has few rugby clubs spread around the country. The sport is
popular among school and local club sides. Rugby season is from April to
August.
